Electronics Test Technician - (SC Cleared Preferred)

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Test Technician to join a leading organisation within the defence industry. This is a fantastic chance to play a vital role in delivering innovative and high-quality technology within a secure and dynamic environment.

Role Details:

  • Position: Test Technician
  • Location: Chertsey (KT16)
  • Rate: £30-35 per hour
  • IR35 Status: Options available - Inside or Outside IR35
  • Start: ASAP
  • Clearance: Candidates ideally to have held SC clearance previously

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed visual and functional checks on electronic units in line with industry standards.
  • Document test processes accurately, including hardware, software, and embedded code configurations.
  • Use laboratory instruments to capture precise electrical measurements.
  • Identify and report errors or inconsistencies in technical/test documentation.
  • Log all test data and progress notes accurately in the required systems.
  • Maintain a safe, organised, and compliant workspace.
  • Ensure work meets quality expectations and is delivered within set project timelines.
  • Accurately record any faults/issues during testing.
  • Adhere to internal procedures, guidelines, and operational standards.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in a production or industrial environment.
  • Regular collaboration with engineering, technical, or design teams.
  • Background working on sensitive or classified projects (defence sector desirable).
  • Familiarity with test instruments such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analysers, multimeters, and bench power units.
  • Skilled in fault-finding at component level across analogue and digital systems.
  • Competent in using manual tools and test equipment safely and effectively.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of electronic assemblies, circuitry, and electrical systems.
