Our client, a global leader in advanced energy and high-technology manufacturing, is seeking experienced Automation Engineers to support the commissioning, testing, and ramp-up of a large-scale, next-generation battery cell production facility.
This role sits at the intersection of automation, data integration, and manufacturing systems, with a strong focus on machine interfaces, MES integration, and end-to-end validation during a critical production ramp-up phase.
The RoleYou will act as a key interface between shopfloor equipment, automation systems, and MES, ensuring seamless communication, validation, and performance across highly automated production lines.
Working closely with machine suppliers and internal stakeholders, you will support commissioning, testing, and production readiness, ensuring systems are aligned with defined automation standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesSupport all project phases from planning through to handoverExecute and support:Acceptance testingCold & hot commissioningRamp-up of production systemsPerform end-to-end (E2E) testing of machine-to-MES data interfacesValidate data integrity, functionality, and performance across systemsReview and align systems against automation standards, identifying deviationsWork closely with machine suppliers to resolve issues and optimise interfacesParticipate in technical alignment meetings and drive improvementsTrack and report progress across commissioning and testing activitiesSupport MES rollout across production areasProduce and maintain clear technical documentationKey Technical RequirementsStrong background in industrial automation (5-10+ years)Proven experience in commissioning and integration of automated systemsHands-on PLC programming (Siemens essential, Beckhoff/Omron beneficial)Experience with MES integration and OT/IT data flowsStrong knowledge of industrial communication protocols:OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus, Profinet, EtherCATAbility to test, validate, and troubleshoot data interfacesExperience reviewing:Machine control architecturePLC & HMI standardsUnderstanding of:PackML & ISA-88 conceptsOT network structuresAbility to read and interpret EPLAN documentationStructured approach to documentation and reportingAdditional Experience (Highly Desirable)Battery manufacturing or high-volume production environmentsExperience working with multiple machine suppliers in complex projectsExposure to API-based integrationsMultilingual skills (German and/or Chinese beneficial)Working RequirementsOnsite role in GermanyFlexibility to support shift patterns and weekend work during commissioningAvailable for long-term contract engagementWhy Apply?This is a rare opportunity to contribute to one of Europe's most advanced battery manufacturing programmes, working at the forefront of:

The role focuses on active prospecting of public and private clients, including:
Public transport operators, municipalities, and other public-sector organizationsFleet operators, leasing companies, and corporate transport providersYou will coordinate closely with a local agent/distributor representing our company, ensuring alignment on strategy, pipeline development, and sales execution, while reporting directly to the International Sales Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
