About the Role
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to support the design and development of advanced material handling and warehouse automation systems. This role focuses on high-throughput sortation solutions used in distribution centers, fulfillment hubs, and logistics operations. You will play a key role in delivering efficient, scalable, and reliable systems that optimize product flow and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
Design and engineer mechanical systems for warehouse automation, including conveyors (belt, roller, MDR), sorters (crossbelt, tilt-tray, shoe sorters), merges, diverts, and accumulation systemsDevelop detailed 3D CAD models, layouts, and fabrication drawings for production and installationParticipate in system layout planning for distribution centers, ensuring optimal space utilization and throughputCollaborate with controls, electrical, and software teams to integrate mechanical systems with automation and control architectureConduct design calculations (throughput, load capacity, motor sizing, structural integrity) to validate system performanceSupport factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT), including commissioning and troubleshootingAnalyze system bottlenecks and implement design improvements to enhance efficiency, reliability, and maintainabilityWork with vendors and suppliers to specify components and ensure quality standardsEnsure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and ergonomic considerationsContribute to continuous improvement initiatives and cost optimization efforts
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline3-5+ years of experience in material handling, intralogistics, or warehouse automation systemsStrong proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD)Solid understanding of conveyor systems, sortation equipment, and mechanical design fundamentalsExperience with system layouts for warehouses or distribution centersAbility to interpret technical specifications, schematics, and equipment standardsStrong problem-solving skills with a hands-on engineering mindsetEffective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with high-speed sortation systems (e.g., e-commerce or parcel handling environments)Familiarity with simulation and analysis tools (FEA, throughput modeling)Exposure to PLC-controlled systems and automation integrationKnowledge of international standards (e.g., ISO, FEM, OSHA or equivalent safety frameworks)Experience working on large-scale warehouse or fulfillment center projectsUnderstanding of lifecycle costing and system scalability considerations

Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement control systems for automated material handling.Develop PLC software, HMI, and SCADA systems, with hands-on experience in Siemens S7 and TIA Portal.Emulate control systems in virtual environments for testing and troubleshooting.Ensure compliance with CE standards and the Machinery Directive.Deliver system commissioning and on-site support, providing end-user training.Collaborate with engineering teams to drive process improvement, quality, and cost optimisation.Qualifications:
