This position is based in the Engineering/Projects department and reports to the Project Manager / Engineering Manager. You will manage electrical engineering activities across the full project lifecycle, support installation and commissioning, and ensure high-quality project delivery within scope and budget.

Your responsibilities and activities will be:

Act as a Mechanical/Layout/Project Engineer with a degree or HND qualification and at least 2 years of experience in automated material handling systems (e.g., baggage, parcel, warehouse, conveyor).Ensure mechanical system designs comply with relevant safety standards and CDM regulations, including performing detailed risk assessments.Proficient in 2D and 3D AutoCAD; experience with Navisworks (Clash Detection), Revit, and BIM is advantageous.Familiar with building interfaces, services, steelwork, and mezzanines.Develop layouts and documentation required for site installation teams.Possess strong equipment knowledge to produce accurate specifications.Conduct risk assessments and mitigate project uncertainties through proactive measures.Apply knowledge of machinery safety standards to support operation and maintenance.Work independently or collaboratively, taking ownership of design responsibilities.Coordinate designs with customers and other Vanderlande disciplines.Engage in continuous learning of processes and equipment.Willing to travel for site support within the UK and abroad.Confidently present design options to teams, customers, and consultants.Ensure engineered system designs are manufacturable within budget constraints.Understand and support mechanical activity breakdown and engineering planning.Protect Vanderlande's interests in dealings with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors.Coordinate third-party equipment supply and integration.Commit to continuous improvement of personal skills, processes, policies, and procedures.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of advanced automated warehouse solutions across the UK and internationally. The role involves managing the full project lifecycle for large-scale automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS) used in modern logistics and distribution environments.

The role is associated with our Birmingham office, however office attendance is flexible. Depending on project needs, the successful candidate may attend the office once a week, once a month, or as required, with the majority of time spent managing projects remotely or visiting customer sites.

This role will involve travel across the UK (approximately 50% of the time) and additional travel across Europe (approximately 20%) to support project delivery and customer engagement
